SONGS TO SING at Lutheridge 
September 6-8, 2013 (Friday–Sunday)
This is a retreat for church choirs of all sizes as well as individuals who like to sing in a choir to learn from an excellent choral clinician. Come and gather in the mountains with others who share the love of choral music. Five selections of music will be rehearsed throughout the weekend so choirs can leave with 5 prepared anthems. Workshops and a reading session will also be part of the weekend.
Michael Glasgow, director of Music at North Raleigh United Methodist Church is the program’s clinician. Michael’s energetic style has been described as “infectous” and “contagious” bringing insight and passion to his composing and directing. Michael will help participants in both technique and expression.

Come to Asheville in the Fall for the beauty of the mountains, fellowship and stimulating Bible study.
2013 Theme: Revelation ~ For the 1st and 21st Century
Pastor Tim Canniff-Kuhn, Program Director at Lutheridge, will lead a Bible study of Revelation which is of the most powerful and misunderstood books of the Bible. The study will examine the both the historical setting of the book as well as its application for today. The formats of both lecture and discussion will be used.
The week also includes exploring the Asheville area which has become a popular destination. Set in the Southern Appalachian Mountains, Asheville is a center for crafts and folk art, craft breweries and apple orchards. The program includes a motor coach trip to see Fall Colors, an (optional) outing exploring Asheville and an evening of storytelling with Pastor Mary, co-director of program at Lutheridge.

QUILT RETREAT at Luther Springs 
February 17-21, 2014 (Monday – Friday)
Come spend a week with other quilters in the relaxed atmosphere of Luther Springs. There will be fellowship, worship, and projects for gift ideas and a non-profit group (past projects included Lutheran World Relief, Lutheran Services of Florida, and Resurrection House children’s choir). Set up before lunch on Monday, depart after brunch on Friday. Don’t miss this opportunity to work on you PHD’s (Projects Half Done) and UFO’s (Un Finished Objects).
Teachers will be there to assist with the projects, as well as to answer questions regarding different techniques. Feel free to work on your own projects instead. There will also be great food, a day trip to a local quilt shop, as well as the opportunity to share some of your own creations!

GOD'S GRILL FOR MEN at Luther Springs 
February 21-22, 2014 (Friday – Saturday)
A retreat for men who want to enrich their faith while relaxing doing “traditional” manly things - fishing, grilling, and archery. The weekend will explore the spiritual as well as the environmental aspects of being a “guy”. The content of the retreat is based upon Bill Perkins Book: “6 Rules Every Man Must Break (….and every woman must know)”.
The weekend will cover the following “rules”: The Rule of Passivity – Never Get in a Fight The Rule of Playing It Safe – Never Risk It All The Rule of Perseverance – Never Give Up The Rule of Independence – Never Ask for Help The Rule of Restraint – Never Lose Your Cool The Rule of Impressing Others – Never Look Stupid

This weekend is dedicated to scrapbooking sprinkled with fun, inspiration, fellowship, devotions, and Sunday worship. The last hurrah of the summer is best experienced from the saddle of your motorcycle. Join in men’s fellowship, worship, food (including a BBQ) and lots of riding! Imagine riding the SE roads with other Christian men and having the opportunity to tell your stories, laugh and experience genuine camaraderie. Bible study and worship leader for the weekend will be Pastor Chuck Miller. Housing will be in the Lakeside Cabins.

HAITI IMMERSION ORIENTATION at Luther Springs 
September 6-7, 2013
Are you planning to lead a group to Haiti? Would you like to know exactly what will happen when you get there? Come to Luther Springs for an orientation to the Immersion process, and learn from those who have led groups, those who have been part of small groups, as well as meeting at least one of the members of the Lutheran Church of Haiti who will be hosting you. Learn what to expect when you are there, learn what the Haitian hosts will do for and with you, but more importantly, learn how to build the excitement within your congregation or group. The Florida-Bahamas Synod, together with Luther Springs, will be working closely with your group, securing air travel and rooms while there, as well as ensuring you will have the contacts needed while in Haiti.
The retreat will begin Friday evening, and will end Saturday after the evening meal. There will be the option to spend Saturday night at Luther Springs for a small additional fee.
This retreat is vital for congregational leaders planning to go to Haiti, as well as for those who are interested in the next trip for Deacon training, a fast growing ministry in Haiti. If you are unable to attend, but would like more information, please contact the Luther Springs office.

AwakeningSoul presents Modern Mind ~ Ancient Soul. Come experience fresh ways of imagining God with us ... engaging the Modern Mind while touching the Ancient Soul within. At the heart of our time together will be conversation sparked by Lauren Winner and Jerry Wright.
Lauren Winner is an author, a Christian Spirituality professor at Duke Divinity School, and an Episcopal priest. Lauren is the consummate seeker - the child of a Jewish father and a lapsed Southern Baptist mother, she chose to become an Orthodox Jew, was later baptized and ordained. Jerry Wright is a Jungian analyst, pilgrimage leader and Presbyterian minister. Drawing from the deep well of psychology and theology, Jerry shares his experience of God through the lens of Carl Jung's work.
The event is much more than a series of lectures. Brian Prior, Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Minnesota, will be our chaplain weaving the experience together through worship and storytelling. Fran McKendree, and an amazing ensemble including Lindsey Blount, River Guerguerian, Charles Milling and Duncan Wickel will create music that will punctuate the learnings and vibrate our souls. Our meeting space will be surrounded by inspiring images created by folk artist RaRa Schlitt.

SPIRITUAL PRACTICES FOR PASTORS AND CONGREGATIONAL LEADERS at Luther Springs 
February 10-12, 2014 (Wednesday – Friday)
Our retreat will include scripture study – particularly drawing on the prayerful work of Luther, Bonhoeffer, Merton, and Brueggemann. We will look at several categories of Psalms including Lament, Thanksgiving and Praise, and Remembrance. Susan will guide participants in several prayer practices using Psalms including lectio divina, visio divina, amplification, contemplation, and writing a psalm. Our times of worship together will include singing and praying psalmody, including perhaps morning prayer, evening prayer and/or night prayer.
Rev. Susan Briehl co-authored Practicing Our Faith: A guide for Conversation, Learning, and Growth and contributed to the Way to Live Leader’s Guide. Susan is a Lutheran pastor who lives in Spokane, Washington, with her husband Martin Wells. She and her daughters, Mary Emily and Magdalena, wrote “The Story” and “Food” chapters for Way to Live. She co-edited On Our Way: Christian Practices for Living a Whole Life (Upper Room Books, 2010)

Come to the mountains to enjoy life and the serenity of fly fishing. This men’s retreat at Lutherock offers an opportunity to be in a place where God can teach us a lot about our faith through the mountain waters.
There is time for learning knots, entomology, and casting practice before heading out together to the river on Saturday and Sunday morning.
Through devotions and worship, we will prepare for time of reflection and prayer; enhancing the fishing experience beyond just catch and release. A North Carolina fishing license is required and can be purchased online at www.ncwildlife.org. The rate includes lodging, all meals, and some program costs.
