Lutheridge+Lutherock Ministries Becomes “Novus Way”
ARDEN, N.C.—After a year-long process of study, collaboration and prayerful consideration by the staff, board, families and friends of Lutheridge+Lutherock Ministries, the camping ministry announced its new name, effective Feb. 15, will be “Novus Way Ministries.”
As the North Carolina-based camp ministry added a partner in Florida and a new site in Georgia, the organization’s leadership recognized the need for a name that includes more than the original properties and expands the appeal beyond Lutherans. Novus Way Ministries will include:
Lutheridge Conference Center and Camp in South Asheville, NC
Camp Lutherock near Boone, NC
Lutheranch, an emerging site near Tallapoosa, GA
Luther Springs close to Gainesville, FL
Because of the unique and historical significance of each camp, the new ministry name will be secondary to the site names. Each site will retain its own logo and traditional graphic imagery. For example, Lutheridge will continue to be represented by a campfire, as it has since the very early days.
“Novus” is Latin for new, fresh, unusual and extraordinary—apt descriptions for the partnership of the four sites, serving seven states, given the newness in Christ they seek for campers and guests.
“The concept of a ‘new way’ is familiar for all believers,” says Keith Johnson, executive director of Lutheridge+Lutherock Ministries.
“Early Christians were known as people of the way. Throughout scripture we hear a repeated witness that our God is doing something new. We believe at this time in our history, our Lord is indeed doing a new thing through us.”
Novus Way will maintain the ministry’s promise of quality, safety, consistency and Christ-centered ministry at each site. The core values testify to the importance of enabling growth as God’s people in Christ, providing a safe place, developing leaders, practicing Christian hospitality, embracing God’s creation, supplementing overall church goals, welcoming all people, instilling confidence and self-esteem, offering peace and transforming lives.
Two words capture the Novus Way promise: get inspired. All campers and guests at Lutheridge, Lutherock, Luther Springs and Lutheranch will get inspired.
“It is our desire that every camper and guest will get inspired as Jesus encounters them to live anew as disciples of Christ,”
“Get inspired encompasses the excitement, emotion, fun and faith experienced by each person.”
The site names, logos and promise will be reflected on newly designed Novus Way letterhead and promotional literature, as well as on the website, T-shirts and other memorabilia.
