Bavarian Delegation at Lutheranch
Lutheranch was a perfect site for the final days of ELCA Southeastern Synod Global Mission Partnership Retreat with twenty-one German friends who visited from the Evangelisch-Lutherische Kirche in Bayern. (Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bavaria). The group of Bavarian and ELCA Lutherans enjoyed the hospitality of Holy Trinity House for two days. There were opportunities for dialog, fellowship, worship, singing, and just sitting on the porch overlooking Kingfisher Lake. Some people fished, kayaked and hiked to Stender Lake, the site for the planned retreat center. Bishop Grabow had this to say about NovusWay’s newest site, “I was amazed at the beauty of Lutheranch. We have retreat centers in Germany, but nothing that matches the beauty of Lutheranch.”
Good Shepherd in Woodstock and Holy Cross in Athens led the evening worships by the lake. For lunch on Thursday, several members of Grace Lutheran in Carrollton came out to cook the great American picnic of hamburgers and hot dogs. They also brought many delicious side dishes and desserts. Debbie Lundell and her awesome cooking crew from St. Luke’s, McDonough, GA, made great breakfasts and dinners! At the final dinner, the theme of the trip, “Together We Can” became “Together We Did” as you can see on the cake. As this partnership develops, international friendships are made and cemented, ideas and issues are shared, and the world becomes a smaller place as we realize how much we have in common as Lutheran Christians.
